Four people will be charged in a court in Bentong tomorrow

KUANTAN: Four of the 15 people arrested in connection with an investigation into cooking activities at a gas station in Genting Highlands, which recently made headlines on social media, will face charges tomorrow in Bentong Magistrates’ Court.

Bentong police chief Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the four would face charges under s. 336 of the Penal Code, while the others were released and will serve as witnesses in the case.

“The four people who will be charged tomorrow are one man and three women, aged between 23 and 24. All of them (15 people) are not children of deputy ministers or VIPs (high-ranking personalities),” he said in a statement.

Pahang Police Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman was earlier quoted as saying that police detained 15 people, including 10 men and five women aged between 23 and 28, while they were at the Bentong District Police Headquarters on Saturday assist in the investigation.

However, after their statements were recorded, all of them were released on police bail.

On May 13, a 50-second video clip showing cooking activities at a gas station went viral on social media platform X and was apparently filmed by a group of vehicle owners, causing public concern and concern.
